When relocating from a spacious home in the Wisconsin woodlands, the homeowners realized too late how much they would miss their light and airy surroundings. Instead, their Colonial home with dark cabinets and North facing kitchen only grew more oppressive as time went on. An unwelcoming entry, tiny kitchen, poor flow, and little privacy when using the powder room left everyone wanting – homeowners and guests alike. Cased openings and halls were expanded to allow more light from the front or South side of the house and rooms reconfigured to gain better proportion and flow.

An off-white cabinet finish to complement new oak floors keeps things light while cashmere white granite and iridescent glass tile brings an element of blue into the room. The shelving allows the homeowner to bring her touch of whimsy in with the change of seasons.
