Milton Colonial
Our clients were drawn to the quiet grandeur of this historic home. While the house had great bones and endless potential, it required modifications to much of the layout, as well as extensive renovations and new finishes throughout. With our client’s appreciation for architectural character and thoughtful design, we preserved some original elements including the main staircase. In addition to replicating details in other areas, we added period moldings and millwork to make the overall feel deliberate and cohesive. On the first floor, the back of the house was gutted and reconfigured to improve flow, creating a new eat-in kitchen and adjacent family room with custom built-ins. In the dining room, we added plaster moldings, wainscoting, and hand painted wallcoverings. On the upper floors, we created a new primary suite, incorporated en-suite bathrooms into the remaining bedrooms, removed confining walls surrounding the main staircase, and converted unfinished attic space to a guest bedroom. The end result is a comfortable family home where it’s hard to distinguish old from new.
