The owners of Monolithe were looking for an elegant yet comfortable reception and lobby space, in which clients would feel welcomed and relaxed while waiting for their appointments. They hired Sylvia Beez of m.a.p. interiors to bring their vision into reality.

The designer was faced with a mostly white and gray clean slate, and decided that an infusion of color was essential. Beez livened the monotonous gray with an amplifying teal color and other mood enhancing blue and green tones. The furniture is an elegant combination of transitional and contemporary styles, with an emphasis on textures, patterns and comfort.
The colors flow freely in the space from furniture to artwork. Some accent walls were painted a darker gray in order to bring more depth to the space and serve as a backdrop for artwork and décor.

The blue-green color scheme is only broken up by the yellow sofa and accessories in the entrance area, with the intention of bringing “a ray of sunshine” for clients entering the space, setting a positive mood for their appointments.

Sylvia Beez, principal of m.a.p. interiors inc., is a European-born designer who takes her inspiration from her travels around the world. Her approach is international and eclectic as she blends world cultures with a variety of design styles in order to create a vibrant and timeless atmosphere. The result is a playful and creative interpretation of contemporary living in Southern California.
