The L’Orangerie, as described in Webster’s, is of French origin from 1664 and is defined as “a protected place and especially a greenhouse for growing oranges in cool climates”. The Nelson L’Orangerie is that and then some, featuring many authentic period French country details inside and out. Within the greenhouse is a custom built counter-current swimming pool, a custom built spa “grotto” with an arching mosaic tiled backdrop wall and an ample changing room. There is a drive thru garage that connects to the owner’s custom wood shop where many of the projects doors and details were fabricated. A stair tower leads to a quaint guest quarters tucked into the upper roof structure and continues up to a windowed look-out level for a quiet retreat while surveying the beauty of the many acres surrounding this one-of-a-kind building.
