New Hampshire Cape

This comfortable home is organized around a hand hewn timber frame and is sited at the edge of a meadow to preserve open space and maximize views of the Green Mountains. The owners salvaged bricks, the timber frame, doors and granite from a nearby 1820 farmhouse that was being demolished. The open living room, dining room and kitchen in the central cape open onto three bedrooms, a study, an office and a screened porch to provide a comfortable balance between communal and private spaces. Wood shingle siding wrap a high performance thermal envelope of stress skin panels. Attention to landscaping and grading allow this home to nestle comfortably into its rural setting.
