BAMO

Passalacqua

Perched above the village of Moltrasio with terraced gardens cascading down to Lake Como, Passalacqua is an 18th-century villa reimagined by BAMO as a 24-suite retreat. Once home to luminaries like Napoleon, Bellini, and Churchill, the estate has been meticulously restored for the De Santis family, transformed into an intimate expression of Italian hospitality rooted in heritage, beauty, and, craft.

BAMO approached the project as a living dialogue with history. Rather than recreate the past, the design amplifies it — revealing centuries-old painted ceilings, hand-laid terrazzo, and frescoed salons alongside Murano glass chandeliers, gilded mirrors, and bespoke furnishings from Italian artisans. Each detail, from creaking parquet floors to hidden mirrored minibars, tells a story of place and possibility.

No two suites are alike. Spread across the Villa, Palazz, and Casa al Lago, each space is unique in color, mood, and materiality — some inspired by original architectural details, others by garden views or the light on the lake. Bathrooms feature over 20 types of Italian marble, handcrafted vanities, and artisanal finishes.

Passalacqua is more than a destination. It is a return to beauty, to ritual, and to the art of living well. The villa’s layered interiors, lush gardens, lakeside pool, and alfresco spaces offer a deeply transportive experience — luxurious yet grounded, expressive yet timeless.
