The homeowners had the vision to see that the existing builder grade design of the back wall, with the standard patio slider and window, was lacking. It certainly didn’t bring out the potential of their roomy kitchen and family room. So even before remodeling the kitchen, opening up to the spacious patio was a priority.
We suggested a 5 Panel Bifold by AG Millworks with all 5 panels opening to the left. (as viewed from the exterior).
A configuration with an odd number of panels accommodates a “daily use door”; which allows easy access to the patio from one hinged panel. A good fit for the young family’s lifestyle. The daily door is easy to operate and locks with an attractive contemporary lever set. Installation of the Linen White 5 Panel Aluminum Clad exterior with unfinished Red Oak interior took 2 days. Demo of the existing sliding patio door, window and wall were followed by framing that included a large header to accommodate the 15′ span. Post installation included stucco and drywall repair and interior oak casing.
