527 Julia Street

Strategically this interior renovation is comprised of two major issues: First, the structural component of adding a second floor to a warehouse space consisting of “leftover space” between two buildings while keeping the industrial look and working with the inherent building codes. Second, is implementing the use of salvaged materials that the client has accumulated over the years. Program elements include a two bedroom apartment with typical spatial needs for a single woman, who requested a modern space. This schism of reusable materials in a modern environment is apparent in the bent plate steel for bathroom counter, the bare concrete walls for the shower, the street grate for the kitchen, and mahogany flooring for cabinets.
