Beaconsfield Ensuite

This master bathroom also serves as a powder room/guest bathroom, as it is accessible from the hallway as well as the bedroom. We wanted to keep the dual access, but needed to improve the look and the functionality of this previously cramped, dark space. No major plumbing was moved, but everything was torn out to the studs and built back!

This is the new view from the hallway. To the left of the bathmat is another pocket door, leading to the master bedroom. We used the same 24x24 porcelain tile on the floor, up the tub, and into the shower/tub area.

The shower glass pivots in or out, creating a shower shield when folded inward, allowing easier access into the tub when folded out, and allowing elbow room for a bather when you want to soak in the tub instead of take a shower.

This custom designed vanity, done in a polyester finish, gave oodles more storage. The two top drawers under the sinks are false drawers, and the two bottom drawers in the middle are combined, for a deeper drawer. Middle drawers under the sinks are notched around drain pipes.

We framed a large slab of mirror in the same material as the vanity. Quartz countertop climbs up the back wall as a backsplash. Kohler faucet is a sculptural addition.

We installed a Grohe showerhead with external mixing valves for the shower, and then a separate tub filler with a Kohler spout below. This eliminated the need for a diverter, as the tub and shower are on their own water lines.

Here we see the elongated shampoo niche, set just above where the bather would rest their head. We made it horizontal to keep it low, as it is meant to access shampoo or soap when in the tub. There is a corner shelf in the shower area for when the bather is standing in the shower.

We used the same 24x24 porcelain tile on the floor, up the tub, and into the shower/tub area. The vanity was custom designed, made from a Stevens Melamine (polyester) which is super easy to maintain, especially in moist environments.
