This new oceanfront cottage, located in the Cape Cod National Seashore, features three vernacular shingled buildings inspired by the iconic forms of early New England seaside architecture. Minimalist glass hyphens connect the forms and flood the interior spaces with natural light. We looked to the constant horizon and the natural drama of this place, about which Henry David Thoreau once wrote “A man may stand there and put all America behind him", to guide the design.
