More often than not, years of planning, saving and dreaming precede a kitchen renovation. After 10 years, these homeowners decided it was time to put the kibosh on their outdated and segregated kitchen. They sought out the talents of Normandy Designer Leslie Molloy, CKD, who made their dream kitchen a reality, complete with a traditional design and open-concept layout.

A large island was incorporated into the design of the kitchen to serve a handful of purposes. Not only does it provide additional cabinet storage and counter space, it creates a central location for guests and family to gather.

The beautiful crown molding of the cabinetry adds interest to the space while drawing attention upwards for visual height. The pendant lighting both illuminates and adds a pop of personality into the room.

A generous amount of cabinetry for storage was a must-have for this kitchen. Therefore, a kitchen cabinetry hutch was added to store overflow dishes and cookware. As an added bonus, it is also a decorative element.

Thanks to the additional cabinetry provided by the island, the microwave and a pull out cabinet trash can were integrated into the space. A large pantry with roll out drawers was also added to frame the new 48 inch stainless steel refrigerator.

Creamy white painted cabinets, chocolate stained cabinets and glass front cabinets break up the design elements and lighten the visual weight of the built-in cabinetry.

The painted stucco hood and backsplash tile are a focal point for entering the kitchen. Both add visual interest, giving the space an additional “wow-factor.”
