Normandy Designer Gary Cerek worked with the owners of this historic home in La Grange, IL built in 1893 to bring a small, inefficient and outdated kitchen up to par with the modern amenities available today. The husband was a wine enthusiast and a key design element for him was a wine / beverage section of the kitchen. The wife was looking for a built-in office area connected to the kitchen for a more open living space as well as unique storage display cabinetry to blend with the adjacent rooms. The homeowners were also interested in adding windows to bring the inside of the home more in harmony with the nature of the outside. Unique details such as tray ceilings with crown moldings, rope lighting, and painted and Cherry cabinetry to give the space a timeless, elegant feel. Beautiful, hand crafted Walker Zanger tile adorns the kitchen backsplash and kitchen ventilation hood. Custom arched valances surrounding the grouping of windows at the kitchen sink sets the stage for a magnificent focal point.
