Craftsman Kitchen in Columbia

We opened up and combined the space in this small kitchen and adjacent dining room to transform a congested, overcrowded and inadequate workspace into the sort of place where you just want to just sit down and hang out.

In this top view drawing of before and after, you can see just how small the kitchen was. We combined the kitchen and dining room, removed a few non-load-bearing walls, and shrunk the dining room window at the upper right.

We had just enough room after turning the coat closet into a compact laundry center to squueze in a cabinet facing the hallway. It is still near the entry and deep enough for coat storage on hooks.
