Eclectic Elegance near the Coast

This project in the Palisades neighborhood of Los Angeles entailed a partial remodel and furnishings on a budget. The original one-story structure had been expanded over the years without any common style or theme. To bring the interiors together despite and create harmony, we intentionally aimed for an eclectic scheme. The client, a yoga aficionado, wanted a peaceful zen-like environment throughout.

This charming Pacific Palisades home presents a discreet facade. The exposed roof areas covered with terra cotta tiles conceal a much larger flat rooftop in the rear which is the product of a second story addition in the 1970’s.

The spacious family room opens onto the kitchen and an informal dining area. The foldable dining chairs are upholstered in an Indian print.. The floors and built in cabinets were refinished. A broad peninsula provides separation from the adjacent kitchen and hidden pantry.

In addition to a guest bedroom located on the ground floor, a fifth bedroom on the second level was converted into a television/game room for the owners’ children. The large domed ceiling infuses a whimsical feel. The daybed is used occasionally for sleepovers.
