The Garden Builders designed and built this small contemporary garden to provide a space for entertainment both day and night. Previously the garden was dominated by overgrown trees and shrubs but was transformed by ensuring maximum potential of the entire area was used to create an enticing area to relax and socialise. To unify the border of the garden the rear fence was replaced, and all boundary walls were unified in texture and material with a sealed cedar batten finish cladding.

Being a dog friendly home, the client wanted to ensure all planting was safe from digging loving dogs and surfaces would be easy to maintain and keep clean. This was firstly achieved by raising the planting beds to achieve a sense of security adding a solid structure that surrounded and fortified the garden. The sleeper finish was selected to provide texture and interest while providing durability and ease of cleaning. The choice of a dark grey finish creates a warm feel while accentuating the other colours in the garden. Limiting the colour pallet allows other colours to stand out such as the sharp green from the Ferns. Through the varying use of timber throughout the garden there are a lot of staggered lines, using 600x600mm contemporary grid layout provides a welcoming contrast while creating a calm, stationary area.
