Humboldt Ave Townhome

This couple loved the feel and walkability of the Lower East Side neighborhood, but houses that come onto the market often sell quickly. After several years, the couple met a homeowner who was interested in selling and so they jumped at the opportunity to purchase this townhome.

Our team created a seamless space between the kitchen and dining room to bring more light and continuity to the first floor. The adjoining office was finished with a custom transom window and the reimagined floor-to-ceiling bookcases create a focal point and connection between rooms.

In 2023, this couple started a family and re-enlisted our team to add living space into the unfinished basement area. They wanted a family-friendly space, but also wanted it to have a sophisticated feel to entertain their friends.

Our team designed a motorized pocket door to separate the workout & storage areas of the basement from the entertaining spaces. Conceiving and planning for all the details to build and hide the motor and controls took extra consideration, but it's definitely a wow factor of this space.

The dimensional tile of the flat fireplace insert required special consideration so our team re-welded and re-powder coated the front face to handle the depth of the dimensional tile. The result is absolutely worth the extra steps.

Our team created an entirely new living area that perfectly suits both family and friends. This basement build is the trifecta blend of approachable, swanky, and comfortable--and in a neighborhood this couple can finally call home.
