Peter Grimm, award winning local architect and principal at Scott Edwards Architecture, LLC, teamed with Nick Weitzer Company to transform a dated house in the Laurelhurst neighborhood into an open and inviting dream home. Walls were removed to open the kitchen to the family room, the stairs were redesigned to give the basement access more visual appeal, and the basement was dugout and renovated to create space for a guest room, full bath, laundry room and a living area with a bar and office. Warm wood floors, white painted cabinets, and a muted palate with bright accents help to create a cohesive and welcoming aesthetic. During construction, the crew at Nick Weitzer Company tackled structural issues with the basement renovation as well as drainage and leak problems that existed before the homeowners decided to remodel.
