Long Hill Wallingford Kitchen Remodel

This homeowner called us because she was interested in remodeling her kitchen and removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room.
We met with her and brought our kitchen designer from Bender Showrooms in New Haven. During our meeting it was determined the chimney behind a wall could be removed as it was no longer used, and she was interested in removing a closet and punching through the wall in the front of the house to create an additional entrance to the room.
After she approved her layout, she made her cabinet and granite selections at Bender. She selected Fabuwood cabinets in Galaxy door style in Frost with the island in Nickel. Her granite was Azul Platino with a 1/2" bullnose edge.
The backsplash is a 2"x4" Calcatta white polished tile with a blue glass and stone 5/8" x 5/8" mosaic.
The project got underway in early November and everyone received a detailed project schedule in advance. We work in advance with the homeowner on choices for outlet covers, paint colors and any pet containment requirements so no one is scrambling for answers when we need them.
She and her family are thrilled with their new space. "It's more than what I had imagined!" What a nice thing to hear!

In addition to the kitchen remodel, an entrance to the dining room from the living room was created. This allows the homeowner to turn directly into the dining room/kitchen from the front door. It makes it easier to carry groceries in the house!

We broke through a wall on this side and a closet on the dining room side and reconfigured the bottom of the stairs to create a flow through rooms.

An unused chimney inside the wall was removed which allowed the stove to be moved to the right and the refrigerator to the other side of the opening.

Because the new cabinet layout provided so much more cabinet space, the homeowner was able to add a dishwasher!

Previously to the right of the stove was a wall with a chimney inside. We were able to remove it which opened up the space for extra counters and cabinets.

There are now two access points into the room - one in the dining area and one in the kitchen. Entertaining can happen either at the table or island.

Imagine all the extra storage space in this island? Drawers are usually at a premium but not here!

The layout was created by our kitchen designer at Bender Showrooms in New Haven and he was really creative with the space. The perimeter cabinets are Fabuwood Galaxy Frost and the island is Galaxy Nickel.

To the right of the stove was a chimney no longer in use when they switched to electric heat. We were able to remove it and it really opened up the room and options for cabinets. That's Mark Benson the owner of Bencar Building Systems :-)

Walls came down, heat was removed, lighting changed. The transformation was amazing!

After we broke through the wall the stairs still needed to be modified. You can see the sheetrock and taping going on in the background. Nice and neat is how we keep our jobs!

Following right along our project schedule, the sheetrock and taping is complete then the cabinets are installed. It looks like they're getting reading to install crown molding.

The homeowner really wanted some bench seating. She found a beautiful table on Wayfair and the bench seating keeps the dining at a good distance from the island. It was a great idea!
