Mercer Heights

This smaller kitchen had a natural maple lacquer finish that was badly worn and water damaged. The customer wanted it to be lighter and coordinated with the other colors in the room. Tinted toners and glazes would not work here because transparent pigments containing white neutralize the warmer golds and yellows in the natural wood tones, turning things a rosy gray with hints of violet showing through. Instead, we did a solid base coat and a warmer hand applied glaze, quickly rendered, which gave each piece a natural looking random variation in appearance.
