This 35 year old kitchen had a lacquer finish that was badly worn and deteriorated. We added pulls and handles to avoid the repeated handling, which infuses body oils and food soils into a conventional lacquer finish. After steam cleaning, solvent scrub, and an overstain to restore the original stain color, we put on a beautiful acrylic conversion varnish finish.
