This renovation was for a very discerning couple, as you can see from the final project photos, making this one of the most rewarding transformations ever. Starting with removing the vestibule outside of the existing bathroom and incorporating it into new bath space, this more than doubled the size of the room. This allowed for the installation of two vanities, a storage cabinet, and a curbless walk in glass shower. To further make this space a universal design, a folding teak seat was mounted in the shower area, and a hand held shower on a slide bar was installed, along with a traditional shower head. To provide the open concept look the homeowner wanted, a half wall with glass was installed beside the shower door. A hand made clear stain glass window was installed to capture even more light, further enhancing the space. A glass subway tile in a lighter color was installed on the vanity wall so that light was reflected from all points of the bath. A custom designed sliding barndoor made from recclaimed Cypress. antique wrought iron for the window, and an old brass theater door handle completes the eclectic look. Above the bed a glass block window was installed to allow more light there as well. New bedding, and a contemporary free standing lamp refreshed this area. Off the bedroom, two more custom sliding barn doors open into a sitting area boasting matching 12x24 porcelain tile from the bathroom. The wood floor was refinished in a grey stain, updating it from the traditional golden oak. Once completed the homeowner and myself where very happy with the end results.
