River Cottage Kitchen Remodel
This river cottage on the Wakulla River is phase one of the remodel process, with phase two to be completed next year. The granite countertops were existing and played a large part of the overall design. The cabinets originally were a pickled oak. After stripping the cabinets back to a natural finish, a three step staining process was applied to achieve the color they are now. Two small uppercabinets on each side of the stove were removed to allow for a new stainless hood. A complimentary stove was purchased and installed also. The use of the travertine backsplash all the way to the ceiling, and the decorative inset draw the eye upwards, making that area the focal point. The popcorn ceilings will be removed during phase two of the remodel. In the meantime, the original flurescent lights were removed and cans were installed in the openings. New light fixtures and under cabinet lighting was installed to further update the space.
