Transitional Fireplace
This fireplace is a great example of how just changing materials can totally update a space. The original fireplace had a large raised hearth that took up valuable visual space. This is a wood burning fireplace, so a mantle was a must. By demoing the raised hearth and installing floor tile that matched the foyer, kitchen, breakfast room and mud room, this made the room feel bigger and brighter. Next my team installed stacked stone over the brick surround and added additional mouldings to the mantle to balance out the added weight of the material. Once completed this became the focal point it was originally meant to be.
