Penthouse Renovation

Projects sometimes have structures that cannot be removed. The wall that was to be removed between the kitchen and dining room contained plumbing that could not be relocated. The "beam"(really a bulkhead) that was created- above to continue to house the plumbing became a design element that served both functionally and decoratively. A beautiful island was born with additional seating and an architectural detail to admire .

This wall was a huge barrier between the kitchen and the dining room, not to mention the small pass through being a tease between the spaces.

View as seen from the kitchen to the dining room as well as the living room with the room removed. The city skyline can now be seen. The kitchen now is more enjoyable and a pleasure to work in.

A very crowded living room with a fireplace taking up a big portion of it needed to be re-designed for additional seating and a more open concept.

The same concept of the wood beams was carried into the living room as was used in the kitchen. The new design allowed for a more open flow between the dining room, kitchen and living and provided an excellent backdrop to the view from the pent house suite.

There was a wall between the kitchen and dining room was taken back to the beam holding up the ceiling and re-clad. This gives a very contemporary and architectural detail in the kitchen. The same color was used in the living room to tie the 2 rooms together.
Main Floor Living Re-Design
A bulkhead was placed over the cook top to continue the wood theme with a one piece slab going on the back wall that created a second feature in this new galley kitchen .
