This is a project where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. After the passing of her much loved horses our client chose to transform the barn that had been their home into a memory filled space where she could both gather with family and friends, and have a personal retreat. We re-used as many original barn elements as possible. Weathered sliding doors on industrial tracks became part of the media area cabinetry, molasses stained stall doors became wainscoting, and rusted hay mangers were transformed into the light fixtures featured above the new island. Even well used salt licks found new life as candle holders. The more private side of the building is a personal spa area that is more refined than rustic, with custom millwork, a soothing water feature wall, and sauna unit. New Skylights flood both sides of the cabana with light, and the addition of large windows improves the visual connection to adjacent pools, patios, and grounds by Urban Niche Landscape Design.
