San Francisco 20s Venetian
The 1920s Venetian inspired St. Francis Woods home had a shotty and generic remodel in the 1980s with all of the original character taken out. I did a total remodel trying to create the original volume of space, opened up the kitchen area with windows a large kitchen with lots of prep areas perfect for entertaining, tore out the corny standard wooden staircase, put in a class staircase so that you could see the view and create more light. Created bathrooms, powder rooms with interesting tiles and did a contemporary kitchen using blue Marmoleum and white marble with full-height backsplashes. We restored the wood floors, fancy lacquered painted walls, added luxurious wall coverings that were flocked and furnished it with an array of antique and modern. We mixed artful contemporary furniture with vintage Mid-Century pieces, Italian Venetian mirrors and Morrocan Antiques with Italian decorate furniture from 1960 set against vividly painted walls. The upstairs bedrooms have an exotic feel like you are traveling to other lands. The home is a place of endless dinner parties and fun. Here, art and life abound.
