St. Croix River Compound
This compound of three small fishing cabins, built between 1910 and 1950 along the St. Croix River, had been abandoned and was completely dilapidated. Following strict riverway ordinances, Lars Peterssen completely renovated these charming structures, converting a dark bedroom into an airy porch in one cabin, vaulting a dingy ceiling in another, and, in the third, removing deteriorated walls and lining the entire space with fir. Replanting severely eroded banks and installing non-polluting services was part of this thoughtful restoration
