Tranquil Living

This client wanted to create a living room space where family could indulge in their love of reading and nature.

To bring the outdoors in, we replaced a small set of exterior French doors with oversized custom metal-framed glass ones that stretch almost the length of the entire exterior wall. We also included a patio addition to bring the outdoors in.

The original layout included one bookshelf which left the room feeling off balanced. We added a mirroring bookshelf on the other side of the fireplace to create symmetry. Our goal was to draw attention to the cabinetry showcasing the original pottery made by our customer which also included other personal items from travels in Europe.

The ceiling was painted a slate blue to visually lower it for a cozier feel. This same hue was sprinkled in the furnishings, rug and draperies. Comfortable yet durable furnishings were a top priority for the homeowners; swivel chairs allow our clients to enjoy both spaces. We added recessed lighting to highlight the shelves, artwork and the accessories displayed on the ceruse oak cocktail table. The room is cozy enough for two but gracious enough for company.
