Cabinets outdated, small work areas, stove pressed up to outside wall. No one can really enjoy washing dishes facing a microwave. The main prepping space between the stove and sink is too small.

The clients are not happy with the small kitchen/dining area. They are requesting an open plan so they can better interact with each other on a daily basis, and more room to stretch out when company comes.

Client requested dining room and kitchen space to be open to living room. We will keep the existing window and a post in the island (where the bearing wall comes out) for budgetary reasons.

The small refrigerator is not sufficient for a family. Since this is butted up to the wall being removed, the refrigerator will be relocated.

The open concept helps this smaller kitchen to appear more spacious. The raised ceiling also helped to visually expand the space.

By removing the two walls around the kitchen, the space was opened up for entertaining and family interaction.

The spacious island allows for additional work surface and seating The microwave is close to the stove and to people who eat at the island.

While washing dishes, the client can monitor the kids in the back yard. The 'before' kitchen had the sink facing the wall.
