1990s before kitchen, cheap tired cabinets with peeling laminate countertop. The bar top was too high, not for standard bar stools; Adults felt like children at the countertop because they could hardly reach the top!

The U-shaped kitchen closed the space in, although the floor plan is very open. It made the kitchen feel small. Besides that, the bar top is not the official height for bar stools, and adults felt dwarfed by the extra-tall height of the countertop

Although the appliances stayed in their original position, by eliminating the peninsula, and having the upper cabinets go to the ceiling, the kitchen has a much larger feel. The better storage features made the kitchen more functional

The cheap old floor tile is not only unattractive, but breaks up the openness of the already-open- floor plan. Although the space is decent, the kitchen work space is small and not conducive to more than one person at a time. The dishwasher opened into the oven space, and bad corners made it...

Although there were lots of lights, the kitchen seemed dark and dreary.

The previous peninsula with bar top was removed and in its place, a small table near the back slider, perfect for coffee and small meals. (it gets early morning sunshine)

Easy reach base corner cabinet is good for small appliances near the stove. Not everyone wants a lazy susan.

The refrigerator cabinet is a good place to store narrow items vertically. This is a good solution if you are able to reach (usually about 5--2" or long arms! otherwise, you may need a step stool)
