Kendall Drive

Reconfigured 1960's kitchen: removed table area by windows and raised windows to continue cabinetry along wall toward dining room. Wall between kitchen and dining room was opened up, and wood flooring brought through into the kitchen. The customer requested seating for four to replace the table that was removed. Much storage was gained in the reconfiguration.

From this angle, you can see how little space there was to get to the exterior door. The refrigerator in area was too bulky and too close to the sink/dishwasher work space, besides acting as a drawbridge to come into the house from outside, if the refrig door is open.

The wall that previously housed the pantry is replaced with shallower cabinetry that serves as an added buffet. By eliminating the tall cabinetry, it helped to open up the aisle space toward the door going to the enclosed 3 seasons room.

The refrigerator squeezed into the space between the back door and the window made a very closed area with a tight aisle space to get to the 3-seasons room. The only working counter space was between the sink and stove, which is not enough and very conflicting for a two-person kitchen.

The previous table area was taking up valuable real estate in a nice-sized kitchen with very little storage or work areas.

For such a large space, there was very little storage in this outdated kitchen. The cook was crowded into a corner with little countertop with which to work.

The island is the perfect place to house the microwave.

The pantry had much-needed storage and some extra counter top, but the fact that there were only 4 drawers in this entire kitchen was a sad fact. The two drawers on the angled cabinet were dummy drawers (fake fronts), not operational.

The new buffet cabinetry is much more open and attractive than the pantry that was in that location previously.

The cooking area is much larger than the before kitchen, with plenty of adjacent countertop space.

The customers love to cook, and needed more storage for spices than they had in the before kitchen. We added a pantry pullout in the base cabinet, and a spice rack on the door above in the upper cabinet.
