Broadview Backyard Studio/DADU

The Broadview Backyard studio is a new custom designed artist studio. An existing detached garage was originally located on the site. The garage was demolished and replaced with this new artist studio. The existing foundation was reused for the new structure. The studio was certified Built Green. Green features include: rain screen siding assembly, low maintenance materials, low flow plumbing fixtures, efficiency of space, and efficient building envelope.

Modern picture rail using a Frye reglet set into the drywall. The picture rail is a very sleek modern feature that allow for the pictures to be changed with frequency without the for lots of nail holes in the walls.

The studio was built on a tight budget. This bathroom was outfitted with an ikea sink and cabinet, Toto toilet and custom shower. The money in this bathroom was spent in the custom tiled shower rather than the vanity. A vanity is more easily replaced in the future with a more expensive fixture.

This image is a close up of the reglet detail at the window. The detail gives the space a very modern feel with clean lines. No wood trim is necessary with detail other than the fir window liner as used in the image.
