H2D Architecture + Design worked with the homeowners of this residence in the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle for a main floor remodel. The couple purchased their home several years ago with the goal of remodeling the awkward existing kitchen. The design goals were to open the space to create a more functional kitchen, bring in more natural light, and provide a space for the couple to enjoy cooking and entertaining. The kitchen was relocated to provide a central work space with ample prep and cooking areas. A peninsula was designed to allow for guests to be part of the cooking experience, but be out of the way of the cooks. The dining area is connected directly with the kitchen in a great room concept.
