With a 2nd floor that had a lot of square feet, but a really poor layout and less than efficient space, for this family, we decided we needed to scrap most of it and start over. By revising the floor plan, we were able to give them a larger Master Bath, a beautiful Walk-In closet, a more symmetrical and well laid out Master Bed, a Guest Room that was just big enough AND... a bathroom for a boy and girl to share, that offers plenty of storage and (finally) some privacy. This space got a total overhaul and then,... at the last hour.... we added a latter and converted some unused 3rd floor space into a sweet loft for the kids. Essentially, our clients wanted to make the best use of this space, so they could enjoy the house and use every part of it. We think we delivered!
