Edna Valley Shangri-La
Nestled within the rolling hills of Edna Valley, Jeffrey Gordon Smith Landscape Architecture designed a private oasis that peacefully coexists with the existing natural landscape. Elements of the landscape are integrated into a design that combines organic patterns of the surrounding environment with modern lines to echo the architecture of the home. The result is a distinctly Californian paradise, a vision of Shangri-La.
Environmental factors, such as the serpentine soils that surround the property significantly influenced planting decisions. The use of plants endemic to those soils creates a blurred line between where the landscape ends and the natural environment begins.
