Faulkner

This sprawling 1/2 acre garden came to us unfinished, with little more than a pool and a view. We connected key spots in this sloped backyard to bring the family outdoors and encourage entertaining. We created privacy using formal lines of aromatic sumac, flame acanthus and kidneywoods which dissolve into transitional, wild native vegetation along the undulating fence line. We used plants native to the Edwards Plateau as well as those adapted to limestone in order to create lush beds and invite pollinators and local wildlife. Mitigating erosion, the surface treatments are Texas basalt in walkable areas, native riverstone in sloping beds, and zoysia palisades grass on the geometric inclines. The stunning views of Wild Basin from the dining and fire feature patios are framed by showy perennials like blackfoot daisy, cedar sage, rock rose, verbena, and colorful ornamental trees like texas redbud and texas mountain laurel.
