The clients asked us to re-envision their backyard to make the space more usable. There is a significant existing grade drop between the back fence and finished floor height of the back door, so we reworked the space so that the steel retaining wall, steps, and large deck became a more comfortable scale. The height variation is so dramatic, and the board-form concrete fountain and sandbox make for a fun place for their young child and dog to play.
