St. James' Episcopal School

SJES asked us to rethink their entry sequence going into the preschool. We proposed pulling the gate further out to the sidewalk, using a taller gate/fence to a create a courtyard, and to use kid-friendly vegetation. To call out to the bright colors of the SJES buildings and logo, we spec'd bright plexiglass in the fence, which is fun experientially when the light projects through to make colored bars in the landscape. We also took into consideration the necessity of signage to differentiate this portion of the campus from the church. Finally, the practicality of having an buffer zone between the entry gate and smaller gate to the deck beyond makes it easier to safely move kiddos in and out for pickup and drop off.
