Light + Airy Breakfast Room
In case you are not familiar, each year the Baltimore Symphony Associates find a home that they would like to take over to remodel. The BSA accepts designer applicants and reviews their style and business. A select lucky group get chosen to have a room/space within the house.
?
This year, I got the Aviary Room. This is the 4th Showhouse that I've had the privilege of decorating for. Each year I get so adrenalized by the challenge and opportunity to design a new space and turn it into something story telling.
?
My main goals for this new space were:
• to curate a cozy and welcoming (s)eating environment
• to create an al fresco dining type of ambiance
• to draw people to congregate here, and stay awhile
?
The challenge was to soften things in an otherwise, all (recti)linear space. I deliberately selected round shaped features to continue speaking with the Palladian window, i.e. the curved bench, those cushy barrel chairs, the ottoman, and #oh THAT glass dining table.
✴️
This style of seating is so great because everyone can see each other which makes it really conducive for conversation. ?
I wanted to make sure we used family friendly fabrics that have personality, yet durability.
?
Wonderful textures, complimented by soft, airy glass and windows.... with the nature existing perfectly on the outside, and playing an integral part right here on the inside.
?
Nature is a crucial element of the design plan. The wallpaper is placed higher, above the seating line to mimic the outside canopy of trees. The garden statue tucked back in the corner, just sealed the deal for me. A favorite find for this very fun project.
