New construction at The Siena luxury condo in Montclair presented a blank slate. This entrance hall design sets the mood with luscious layers of paint, color and light. The decorative painter worked magic here rubbing on & off dry powdered pigment, then washing color on and off with wet glazes, all the while artfully controlling the drips. The painted walls and red runner gives the first glimpse of the rich color throughout the home. In the open living/dining area, decorative details abound: a painted, glazed & stenciled hutch (previously white in the former kitchen), nailheads and tassels on the large purple velvet sofa, copper topped dining table, Scavo glass pendant chandelier, and valances fabricated from embroidered fabric and adorned with custom beaded strands. The space is flooded with light from the large windows and sliding doors to the balcony with views of New York City, so window treatments prevent glare, provide privacy and decoratively frame the windows.
