Working with an existing, geometric driveway and an oddly elevated turf area, the balanced, beautiful re-design introduces a generous walkway made of clay tiles. This upgraded material was also incorporated as a surround for the mature Olive tree and to solve drainage issues and uncomfortable step layouts in the courtyard. A modest wall fountain, a re-graded and re-shaped turf area and stylistic plantings were also added. By respecting the existing elements that were to remain and responding with classic, time-tested materials in reasonable ways, this elegant re-fresh is easy to live with and easy on the eyes. This project, completed in 2007 and photographed eight years later, is another example of solving problems with style!
