Opening Up a 1960's Kitchen
The kitchen in this 1960's home felt closed in and dark. The homeowner wanted something that would update the space but not feel out of place with the rest of the home's architecture. Changing from a peninsula to an island was the first decision. This also allowed us to open up the space by removing the peninsula wall cabinets. The storage that was sacrificed was found in adding height to the new wall cabinets and the additional tall pantry. The eye catching detail the homeowner always wanted was the granite.
