The Victoria & Albert's "Napoli" sculptural tub carved from volcanic limestone was the springboard for the redesign of this Master Bathroom in a 1950's ranch. To create the larger space, a Foyer coat closet and the existing linen closet were removed. New custom cabinetry accommodates twice what the linen closet had. Remaining walls are panelized with iron-free mirror inserts in the upper panels, visually adding space to the bathroom. Fossilized limestone is used for the rectangular format flooring and the same stone for a slab countertop. We determined that the black wall switches worked best, where they're installed on the mirrored panels. Tub controls were placed at the end wall, remote from the tub spout for ease in filling the tub, and simply leaning over to add more hot water when bathing. A skylight bathes the room with natural light, and is illuminated at night with an LED rope lighting. All lighting is LED or on vacancy sensors to be California Title 24 Compliant.
