San Francisco Cottage
This small 1930's San Francisco home was given new life with creative interiors, using various items collected and found over the years. Some are old family pieces, while others have had previous lives as shipping crates and wooden fences, but now their lumber has taken on new lives as pieces of art, with new functions in every day life.
Smaller art multiples in matching frames, installed in a repetitive grid pattern, become an overall wall treatment in both the music room and office.
An affordable, elegant galley kitchen was installed using standard, off-the-shelf IKEA cabinetry enhanced with stainless, granite and butcher block counters. Neutral finishes compliment the bold color of the vintage ceramic floor tile.
Original ornate plaster mouldings were lost in a sea of white. A bold but neutral color on the walls, gloss white on mouldings and an ultra-flat white ceiling provide definition to the various architectural features. The existing, all white tile fireplace was updated with a custom walnut mantle, travertine tiles and limestone hearth.
