The design of this luxury hi-end beach house is based on a "casual formality," emphasizing clearly defined rooms / spaces that are open to each other. Lightness and airiness are the hallmarks of this style. Classic ideas are abstracts and reinterpreted with a modern sense of detailing. The result are interiors that are sleek and crisp, elegant and classic. Retaining the best elements of modernism set within the idioms of the past, this house is truly classic modern. Here, the use of color, material, surface, motif, geometry, and light cleverly define it's sensibility. Bringing nature's serenity, which lies just outside the door, the house is cheerful in its emanation of warmth and light.

White, beige, green, and sand is the chosen color palette; warmth and depth the chosen texture. For instance, the Venetian stucco on the walls echoes the ancient exterior material and links itself to the color and texture of sand - a warm, variegated beige. The walls run into the limestone floors softening the effect of the hard floor through its warm color and smooth feel. The warm sand tones of the walls and floors are offset by the cooler white ones, creating a clear yet comforting antithesis. In enhancing lightness, white furniture and accessories compliment the stuccos beige color, creating a natural simplicity. Nature's 'greenness' is mirrored by the clear and decorative glass used throughout, the natural flora and flowers, the rug, and the accessories.

Decorative sandblasted glass panels in four different colors create a painterly and innovative backdrop to the room's visual impact. At different points of the spaces, the mirrored surfaces reflect different tonal values. This play of light and surface is also reflected in the mosaic tile which is used on the fireplace hearth and drapery cornices. While softly colored when perceived directly, they are richly colored and prismatic, when viewed at an angle. Like the decorative glass panels, they change colors when looked at from different perspectives.

This space is designed around the geometry of the circle, square, and rectangle. The square, symbolized by the use of motifs, colored glass panels, side table, chandelier, rug, bookends, and accessories congrats with the round dining table, dining chairs, side table, light fixture, decorative mirror, lamps and decorative spheres. Rectangles are expressed through the shapes of the TV, coffee table, desk, consoles and lucite furniture.

For the kitchen, the space is designed for a gourmet cook who loves to entertain in the country. The entire space was gutted to make room for a diversity of functions within the area. Counter space is gained and a separate identity created for the breakfast room by adding the arched opening and cabinets between it and the kitchen proper. The breakfast room is airy with the addition of a greenhouse, affording views of the yard and swimming pool.

Separate areas are provided for different activities: food prep on the island counter, a baking area at one of the L-shaped counters, clean-up at the other. Stools are provided at the island counter for quick snacks and lunches. Professional restaurant equipment, such as a Traulsen refrigerator and freezer and a U.S. Range stove and grille are combined with European appliances. The cabinets are Boffi in black with gray granite backsplash, countertops, and floor.
