The Berm

This is a large residential backyard near Bayview and the 401. The main lawn areas were sodded, and the large sweeping berm was hydro-seeded using a grass blend called Eco-lawn in order to have to different textures and colours. The modern architecture on the home lent its hand to the modern design for this garden. Steel retaining walls add simplicity and a rusty colour splash to the garden. There is a decorative black granite gravel trench which catches the water from the base of the berm and lawn areas and drains to the back of the property. Black gravel trench, sod areas, and berm are separated by 1/2" thick aluminum edging. Specimen trees are multistem Flowering Dogwoods, and planting bed beside the pool has a combination of Canadian Hemlock, Rhododendron, Oakleaf Hydrangea and Periwinkle.
