Urban Cottage

This large residence is in the hidden and desirable neighbourhood of Wychwood Park in Toronto. The presence of city life and noise is not a factor in this often unknown gated community. Natural plantings, curved walkways and a mossy water feature lend their hands to the natural surroundings.

This curved walkway leads you to the back of the garage. We can see the mossy water feature on the right. This is the view from the clients upper terrace. The large lawn area is a fun place for kids to play including a skating rink which is put in each winter.

Cozy spot to sit on a Sunday afternoon with a good book and a hot beverage. The home owner was adamant about a "pondless" water feature as clients with young children are always worries about having a pond. All rockery is weather and has retained or sprouted new moss.

The homeowner was nice enough to lend us their two cute children for a quick photo opportunity in their garden. One thing we try and do is include some fun for the kids in our designs. There was plenty of time and space for adventure for kids on this project!

Natural Limestone steps takke you from the lower lawn area up to the main dining patio. Natural and native planting shoulder the steps and have grown over them to soften the harsh edges of the stone.
