HOBI Award 2013 - Best Residential Remodel $4-$5 million

Karp Associates was hired by the owner’s attorney to see why the current builder of this multi-million dollar renovation was more than eight months behind schedule. After a few days of due diligence, it became apparent that the builder, architect and surveyor did not have the skill set required for this historic renovation. Additionally, our team’s forensic accounting unearthed significant accounting irregularities. Once these problems were fully vetted, the owner then hired us as the Construction Manager.

The top to bottom renovation of this 21-room, six-fireplace majestic estate home from a bygone era included complete replacement of all heating, electrical and plumbing systems. The entire exterior was clad in golden granite wall stone and a slate roof was installed. The splendid grandeur of the original entry hall was expanded and enhanced by extending the existing design and finishes into the new space. The restoration of the balance of the formal areas included decorative moldings, plaster walls, elaborate crown moldings, custom fireplaces, pocket doors and distinctive handcrafted details.
