2012 Professional Remodeler Design Bronze Award - Finished Basement

The design challenge of this lower level remodel was to create an aesthetically pleasing yet highly functional recreation area for the adults and children in the house. This project was a strong nod to modern, contemporary style. Additionally, the owners wanted to have a comfortable play area for their pre-school children while also having an entertainment area for their adult friends

To entertain everyone, a 100” TV screen was incorporated into the playroom/theater area. Since the parents were audiophiles, as well as movie buffs, sound attenuation and proofing were major design considerations. A distinctive 12-foot long, floor-to-ceiling glass wall displayed their fine wine collection in the new climate controlled wine cellar, replete with unique features such as cork flooring, glass mosaic tiles, metal ceiling panels and LED accent lighting.
