Transitional Spanish Style Remodel
In this beautiful Oakland hillside home, our clients had a vision for a kitchen that incorporated their love of tandem gourmet cooking, with the home’s original Spanish style architecture. Their criteria for the project: simple design, ease in maintenance, superb functionality, quality craftsmanship, and budget friendly. To accommodate their desires the kitchen features simplistic design elements such as a quartz countertop with low splash and painted shaker cabinets along with high end, beautiful, performance cooking appliances and a decorative copper hood.
Last remodeled in 1980, this kitchen needed a complete redesign. The layout included a long, tall peninsula that not only divided the kitchen but created a congested cooking space and several unusable areas. The cooktop’s location, directly adjacent to a major thoroughfare, was a hazard. Removing the peninsula and relocating the cooktop opened up the kitchen and created needed usable space. With the addition of a well-loved sentimental piece (Grandpa’s dining table), this kitchen is now the heart of the home!
The resulting design is a beautiful transitional style cooking space that beautifully melds a Spanish historic home with a modern day lifestyle.
